Nadworna is a town on the right bank of the Bystritsa Nadvirnianska river (a tributary of the Dniester), at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, about 40 km south-east from Ivano-Frankivs'k and about 30 km north-east from Kolomyia. The town is divided by Strymba river (a tributary of the Bystritsa Nadvirnianska).
The Jewish community in Nadworna dates back to atleast 1765.
Nadworna was the center of a big Hassidic dynasty. It's first Hassidic leader (Rebbe) was Rabbi Yissachar Dov Ber Leifer (died in 1848). read more
