Description:

Baking matzot in Solotwina - photograph number 2.

This photograph was taken in one of the two houses in Solotwina in which the Jews baked matzot for passover. These belonged to the Zeitel and Igel families and probably had an old oven fit for the baking of matzot. Each family came with her own prodects for the matzot. A man by the name of Shlomo Krel was the Redler (רעדלאר). His job was to make little holes in the matza to insure its quick baking.
