Boryslav, a town on the banks of the Tysmenytsa, a tributary of the Dnister, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains.. Boryslaw is first mentioned in 1387, and known as a town in 1690. Jews arrived here in the second half of the 19th century, after
petroleum and gas deposits were discovered there.
